About Public Glass

Public Glass is a studio and school formed to meet the needs of Bay Area artists working in hot glass and students interested in glass as art. Over the last 10 years, as the premier hot glass non-profit in San Francisco, Public glass has been a destination for students and artists from around the world who want to learn more or practice their art. The facility is open to the public during office hours. Learn more about Public Glass on this website and stop by for a visit soon.

Guest Artist and Seattle glassblower
Ryan Staub

Guest Artist and Seattle glassblower Ryan Staub will be in the Bay Area to teach a special advanced goblets course the week of February 14th through 16th.

This weeknight workshop, for intermediate/advanced glassblowers, will guide students through the techniques of venetian-style goblet making.

The focus will be on the creation and assembly of more complex stemware. Blown feet and stems, avolios, mereses and various bitwork techniques will be demonstrated and learned, and students will learn to effectively employ the garage, fork, and chalk punty in the pursuit of ever- fancier cups.

This class will run for three evenings in a row, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, for an immersive experience.
