Mosaic Glass as Art
2 day class, SAT and SUN
Students will learn about mosaics as an art form. The class will focus on working with glass as a medium for exploring texture color and design in mosaics. Students will learn how to use tools to cut glass, select surfaces and understand fixatives and applications. Students will design and create a fine art piece. No experience necessary.

Basic Kiln Casting
All levels
4 Week Class

Saturday Afternoons

This is an introductory course designed to instruct students (new to the art of kiln casting) in basic techniques. This class will enable students to create both functional and sculptural works of art. The group will discuss and learn to create multi-part molds and other types of basic molds. Students will also learn about making waxes and using plaster/silica mixes to make unique art molds. This class is designed to be technical and contains lot of information but focuses on creativity and FUN!

Fusing and Slumping
Basics of Fusing sheet glass and slumping forms
All levels

5 Week Classes

Tuesday Evenings

This class will cover the basics of how to cut and shape sheet class while considering aesthetic decisions of layout. The class will explore the use of color and texture along with joining form and functionality. This is the perfect class for beginners and novices of glass. No experience necessary. You will leave this class with an understanding of melting and forming sheet class and perhaps a couple nice plates, bowls or other forms.

Lampworking the Blown Form

5 Week Class

Tuesday Evenings

This class delves into the exciting world of torched work “hard” glass. This class is for students just starting out on their class working adventure and for those interests in sharpening their torch skills. Students will learn how to blow a glass bubble and form it into bottles, small jars and ornaments. A segment of this class will focus on blown beads and other forms. No experience is necessary just an open mind to learning how to move, shape and color glass.

Lampworking Elements for Fusing
All levels
2 day class, SAT and SUN
This class is a lesson in exploring crossover glass working techniques. Students will explore how to create design elements on the torch in the lampworking studio then; after elements are made, the lesson will switch to combining these elements with sheet glass and using kilns to fuse them into flats. This class is a great starter class for people just learning about glass working and who want to explore a multi studio experience.

Beadmaking 101

This is the dream class for jewelry lovers and glass enthusiasts. This course offers beginning bead-making skills and foundational glass flame working. The student will learn how to form, decorate and create glass beads with techniques including shaping, raking dot application, latticino and filigrana using opaque and transparent soft glass colors. This class guarantees you will learn the ancient art of bead making and that you will leave will unique beautiful hand made art beads. Open to students at any level.

Fusing and Slumping

Sunday Studios
These sessions are for experienced beginners looking to hone their skills or for the more advanced student in need of a place to work. This time is monitored but there is no formal instruction. You will need to have taken a begging fusing class at Public Glass or the equivalent, or have permission from the Educational Manager to enroll in these sessions. Prior enrollment is necessary. No walk-ins.

Each session is 35 dollars which includes a studio fee, 12"x 12" kiln space, and 1 pound of glass. More glass can be purchased at 15 dollars per pound. More kiln space can be purchased for 10 dollars per 12"x 12" space.


Cost is $35 per session + materials + kiln. Six students max.

Beginner Workshop
Learn how to gather molten glass and shape it into a paperweight! This class is intended for those who are curious but don't want to commit to a full day. See if glassblowing could be your next hobby! No experience required! Wear a long sleeved cotton or natural fiber t-shirt and closed toe shoes. Bring along a bottle of water or buy one from our vending machine. If you have protective eyewear, bring it. If not Public Glass will loan you a really attractive pair!

Rollup class


3-day Workshop
Here's an exciting process that incorporates the intricate desiging capabilities of Fusing with Bullseye glass with the hotshop techniques of glassblowing. The 3 session Fused Glass Rollup Class will allow the student to create/design their fused glass pieces, coldwork them, roll them up and blow them out as vessels, commonly created in the hotshop. To enroll in the class you should have at least 1 year experience in fusing and 1 year experience in glassblowing. !

Our most popular workshop — everyone leaves with a smile on their face and a new appreciation for glass art! This workshop is perfect for those interested in sampling hot glass and its potential without the five-week commitment. We begin the day with an introduction to your fabulous instructors, a review of the basics of shop safety, then move right into paperweights. You finish the day by making blown drinking tumblers with assistance from one of our awesome instructors. The 1-day workshop is the perfect way to experience something new and exciting. Plus it’s a lot of fun to take with a friend, family member, or partner.

Glassblowing 1
Basics for Beginners
5 week series

If you have ever wanted to try glassblowing, this is your chance! Learn the basics in a closely supervised team environment, and then improve your skills through practice and coaching. We will teach you how to gather glass from the furnace, and then use tools to shape the glass. We emphasize teamwork, communication, and skill building in this level one class. We will also discuss the basics of glass chemistry and the principles of heating, cooling, and gravity and their effects on glass. By the end of the class, you will have learned all the skills necessary for making a drinking tumbler.

Glassblowing 2

Bootcamp for Glassblowers
(Intermediate):
5 week series
Hone your beginning skills while learning new shapes. In this intermediate course, the instructor will demonstrate and you will practice a different shape each week. Some of the shapes you will cover are: the cylinder, the cone, the bowl, and the bottle. After taking level two glassblowing, with your instructor’s approval, you may rent studio time to create glass art without the supervision of an instructor. We offer both 5 and 10 week level two classes and both are sufficient for becoming eligible to rent on your own.

This 5-week series covers the fundamentals of murrine pickup, and will explore variations in technique and color application. Students will be required to purchase additional bar color for use in this class.

You can bring paper weights, drinking glasses, vases, sculptures, what ever they want and Dean will cover all the basic coldworking equipement.
